I am glad to see others getting into the interactive mirror space. Our versions have now been used for events, tradeshows, retail and artistic endeavors. Eric Gradman's Cloud Mirror is a pretty cool experience as well. The Cloud Mirror ties in the mirror experience with Augmented Reality and Facebook/Twitter potential. I am inspired to see ways for us to incorporate some of his thinking as well as potentially collaborate with him on some future project. If you have not seen the Cloud Mirror in action, check it out below.
Neurosonic Holographic and many other large fancy sounding words that simply mean amazing. The future of experience will occur in Digital/Augmented/Space.
Nicked from Amber B's Facebook feed, this is an excellent example of using outdoor in a creative way to get people talking. Instead of a traditional movie poster announcing when American Psycho was going to be on, they utilized the billboard space to refer to the famous business card scene in the film. Well done!
Artist and Musician John Cage has always pushed the boundaries of his mediums. Whether for his silent compositions or the scores of people he influenced or collaborated with, he was never one to see the world for what it was versus what it could be with a change of perception. So it was not surprise to hear that he was behind ORGAN2/ASLSP. Don't know what what ORGAN2/ASLSP is? Neither did I, but when I started reading about it, it got me thinking, and smiling. ORGAN2 well, that is an organ playing a piece of music. And ASLSP = As SLow aS Possible. Since September 5, 2000 (the 88th Bday of the composer Cage), the church of St. Burchardi in Halberstadt has been playing Cage's piece and it is slated to continue to play the piece for another 629 years. The piece is being played on the church's organ, originally constructed in 1361 (639 years before the start of the piece, hence the 639 year run-time of the current one)
It is a counter measure to our fast paced modern world to play a musical piece as slow as can be and to remind us that sometimes beauty is in not rushing through things but experiencing them for how they do not change over time. Three notes lasted over a year and a half! As a piece of music, it is not what inspires me, as a concept though, that is what makes me stop and think and challenges me to think one tenth as creatively as people like John Cage.
You can read more about the John Cage OrgalProjekthere. And hear the current tone being played here.
You can also donate to support a specific year of the project (first available year is 2076 so hurry up!) to keep the it going until the end.
Finally getting around to watching Rory Sutherland's '09 talk at TED - Life lessons from an ad man. A great bit of entertainment and whimsy that actually delivers some great messages about how to think about our lives, culture and brands and how perception can be altered instead of necessarily altering the things in our lives. Definitely worth a watch.
