The preferred notebook for Picasso, Hemingway and the Williamsburg set, the Moleskine notepads are great in their form and function (tho I also really dig Muji). I was jazzed to find this post featuring the art and design that people employ with their Mokeskine's and to see how much more creative they are than I. A few years ago I pitched an idea of having people walk around with those old 70s invisible dog leashes to promote one of the defunct pet dotcoms. When they did not go for it. I forgot all about those toys, until yesterday. When I started to get text messages asking if I was involved in all these people in Brooklyn walking around with them. I was not, but glad to see that ImprovEverywhere was. It seems over 2000 people were walkin' the dog around my borough causing smiles and curiosity. I am only sad that I was working most of the day and only caught the tail end (pun intended) of it. Waiting for the video to come out, but many photos and a description here.
If you did not get a chance to catch The Yes Men Fix The World on HBO recently, and you happen to be in NYC in a few weeks, you should certainly attend the opening weekend premiere at the Film Forum on Oct. 7th.
Anyone interested in pranksters, experiential, guerrilla or activism will love this film. Even if you are on the other side of the coin, you can learn quite a bit about generating attention.
The Yes Men were behind the recent spoof issue of the New York Post which was released earlier in the week to much press and WOM. They have done that and many other attention getting activities.
Hey now! Our Interactive Mirror was recently added to the Gizmodo Gallery that is going to be going on tomorrow through Sunday at 267 Elizabeth St in NYC. Come through and say hi, touch some stuff and see everything from Tesla Coil rock, the largest Beatles Rockband and an automatic pancake machine.
