Just wrapped up the new promotion for Discovery Channel Shark Week (debuting sunday at 9p BTW :-) and it still amazes me how many people still respond when you just give a fun, quirky, unexpected experience out there on the streets of a busy city. People stop, talk to you, get excited, take photos, laugh, SMILE and all those other things that make the 36 hours awake worth it. It started out looking a bit dismal, the weather was not cooperating and a storm was predicted for the entire promo day. Granted our staff was out in bathing suits so it might not really matter, but still, consumers don't tend to pay attention to their surroundings when they have an umbrella and are looking down. But as fate would have it, only 30 minutes into the event and the rain stopped and it got better and better. The afternoon was sunny and hot, just at prime lunch time. But back to the main thing, people loved the experience. And giving a positive live experience opens people up to the other forms of marketing and creates a relationship that they want to be a part of. And if we are lucky, communicate that to many others (see below and no,i have no idea who this is who wrote it).
